Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Fluor Diversity Scholarship, applicants must:

Demonstrate a household income of less than £35,000.

Meet at least one of the widening participation criteria, which include:

  • Students from Low Participation Neighbourhoods (POLAR4 Quintiles 1 and 2 by OfS)
  • Students from areas of high deprivation (Index of Multiple Deprivation, IMD, Quintiles 1 and 2)
  • Students from low-income families (eligible for Free School Meals in the last six years)
  • Care leavers and students in local authority care
  • Families with parents/carers in non-professional households (NS-SEC groups 4-8)
  • Families with no parental history of Higher Education participation
  • Students with disabilities
  • Young carers
  • Mature learners
  • Refugees and asylum seekers
  • Students estranged from their families
  • Students with a parent/carer who has served in the armed forces or reserves
  • Students from Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic backgrounds
  • Students from Gypsy, Roma or Irish Traveller (GRT) communities
  • Students identifying as New Traveller, Boater, Bargee or Showperson

Benefits

The scholarship provides up to £10,000 in total funding:

  • £3,000 per year for the first three years of study.
  • £1,000 towards either a Professional Training Year (PTY) or the master’s year for those in an integrated master’s program.

For students pursuing an integrated master’s course with a PTY, the £1,000 is allocated to the PTY with no additional funding for the master’s year. The maximum amount awarded is £10,000.
