Eligibility Criteria

  • Have applied for the Irish Studies MRes at the University of Liverpool

  • Be a Palestinian student who:

    • Is registered with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency UNRWA and can provide proof, OR

    • Is from Gaza or the West Bank and can provide proof of address

  • Be currently resident outside the UK

  • Be seeking international protection and unable to continue education in their current location

Failure to meet any of these conditions will result in ineligibility.

Application Process

Step 1: Apply for the Irish Studies MRes

  • Submit your course application online via the University of Liverpool course page

  • Include a personal statement explaining:

    • Your academic background

    • Your learning ambitions

    • How your research will focus on links between Ireland and Palestine

  • Course application deadline: 1 April 2026

Step 2: Apply for the Scholarship

  • Scholarship applications are open now

  • Deadline: 1 May 2026

  • Apply using the online scholarship application form

  • Email proof of UNRWA registration or Gaza/West Bank address as instructed in the form

  • Applications without valid proof cannot be considered

  • Submit the scholarship application only after applying for the course

  • Unconditional Offer – no further conditions required

Step 4: Fulfil Conditional Offer If Applicable

  • The University accepts Duolingo English Test, a more affordable option

  • Limited Duolingo vouchers may be available for students with significant financial need

  • Vouchers are only available after receiving an offer
