The University of Leicester is happy to announce the Buckland Scholarship, generously funded by alumna Alexandra Anderson (Law LLB, 1993). This award provides financial support to outstanding undergraduate students in Law who face economic challenges, ensuring they can thrive in their academic journey.

The Buckland Scholarship was established through a generous donation by Alexandra Anderson, an alumna of the University of Leicester who graduated with a Law LLB in 1993. Created to support the next generation of law students, the scholarship is designed to help those with strong academic ability but limited financial means. By reducing financial hardship, it allows students to focus on their studies and make the most of their university experience while pursuing careers in the legal field.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the Buckland Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Hold an offer to study a full-time, campus-based undergraduate Law LLB degree at the University of Leicester starting in September 2025.

  • Be enrolled in one of the following courses:

    • Law LLB

    • Law with a Modern Language LLB

    • Law with Politics LLB

    • Law with Criminology LLB

  • Have Home fee status.

  • Have a household income of £30,000 or below, verified by the Student Loans Company or alternative evidence upon request.

Benefits

  • Value: £3,000 annually

  • Duration: Up to 3 years maximum £9,000 over the course of study

  • Purpose: To reduce financial barriers and allow students to focus on their academic and personal development.
