Funded by generous donations from University of Bristol alumni and friends, these scholarships aim to support Black UK applicants in pursuing a PGCE course. Four scholarships, each valued at £5,000, will be awarded to successful applicants to help cover the costs associated with their PGCE studies. Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Black Bristol PGCE Scholarships, applicants must:

  • Identify as Black African, Black Caribbean, Black Other, Mixed – White and Black Caribbean, Mixed – White and Black African, or another mixed background including Black African, Black Caribbean, or Black Other.
  • Hold an offer to study on a PGCE or GITEP programme for the 2024/25 academic year after a successful interview.
  • Be a resident of the United Kingdom and classified as a Home/UK student.
  • Be eligible for UK Government financial support (tuition fee and living costs loans from the Student Loans Company).
  • Apply for or intend to apply for means-tested support from your regional funding provider and consent to share household income details with the University.

Applicants must apply for means-tested support to allow the University to confirm household income, although taking out loans is not mandatory.
