The Royal Agricultural University, in collaboration with agricultural advocate Kaleb Cooper, is pleased to announce the availability of the Agriculture Bursary for the academic year 2025–2026. This bursary aims to support undergraduate students pursuing agricultural studies at the University, particularly those who demonstrate a strong interest in the field and may lack traditional farming backgrounds.

The Royal Agricultural University (RAU), founded in 1845 in Cirencester, England, is the oldest agricultural college in the English-speaking world. Established to advance farming knowledge and rural development, it has played a central role in shaping agricultural education for nearly two centuries. Over time, the university has expanded its teaching and research to include agri-business, environment, food production, and land management.

Background

The Kaleb Cooper Agriculture Bursary was established by Kaleb Cooper, a well-known farming entrepreneur and television personality who rose to prominence through his work alongside Jeremy Clarkson on Clarkson’s Farm. Coming from a non-agricultural background himself, Kaleb experienced first-hand the challenges faced by young people who wish to enter the farming sector without traditional family connections or financial support.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Aged 18–30 and resident in the UK

  • Registered as a current undergraduate student studying agriculture at the Royal Agricultural University any year, including foundation

  • Able to demonstrate a genuine interest in agriculture

  • Preference may be given to:

    • Students not from a farming background

    • Students experiencing financial hardship

Benefits

  • Two bursaries are available each worth £3,000

  • Funds will be issued in two instalments January 2026 & April 2026

  • Students may be eligible to apply for a work placement with Kaleb Cooper or his industry partners not guaranteed

  • Successful applicants must consent to publicity activities and possibly support future bursary promotion

    • Applicants will be notified if shortlisted

    • Shortlisted students will attend an interview with Kaleb Cooper on 10 December 2025
