This prestigious award provides £25,000 per year for up to three years, covering tuition fees and living expenses, for students enrolled in eligible undergraduate programmes within the School of Economics and Finance and the School of Business and Management.

Background

The BP Finance Undergraduate Scholarship has been established by bp in partnership with Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) to support talented students pursuing degrees in Economics, Finance, and Business-related fields. Recognising the importance of increasing diversity in higher education and the finance industry, this award is specifically aimed at students from Black heritage backgrounds who are assessed as Home students.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the BP Finance UG Scholarship, applicants must:

• Be assessed as a Home student for tuition fees.

• Be of Black heritage, as defined by UCAS ethnicity codes Black Caribbean, Black African, Black Other, White/Black Caribbean, White/Black African.

• Hold a firm offer to study one of the eligible undergraduate courses within the School of Economics and Finance or the School of Business and Management at QMUL.

• Optional preference may be given to applicants from households with an annual income below £35,000.

Important restrictions:

• Students on degree apprenticeships are not eligible.

• Students enrolled on 4-year programmes with placements or study abroad will only receive funding for 3 taught years.

Applicants must:

1. Write an essay max. 1,000 words on:
   Discuss ways to align the financial system with environmental sustainability Essays exceeding the word limit including tables, figures, references will not be reviewed.

2. Submit the essay by email before 26 October 2025:
