Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

1. Olympiad Achievement

Candidates must have earned a Gold, Silver, or Bronze medal in one of the following major international competitions:

  • International Mathematical Olympiad IMO

  • International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI)

  • International Physics Olympiad (IPhO)

  • Romanian Master of Mathematics (RMM)

  • European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad EGMO – Gold or Silver only

2. Degree Programme Requirement

Students must be accepted for full-time admission to one of the following programmes within the School of Mathematics:

  • BSc Applied Mathematics

  • BSc Mathematics

  • BSc Mathematics and Statistics

  • MMath Applied Mathematics direct entry to second year only

  • MMath Mathematics direct entry to second year only

Note:

  • Maximum funding duration is 4 years.

  • MMath applicants must enter directly into Year 2 to receive full funding.

  • Students already enrolled in the programme are not eligible.

  • Mathematics degrees hosted by other Schools are not eligible.

3. Admission Application

Applicants must apply to the University of Edinburgh via UCAS, though they do not need to have received an offer before beginning the scholarship application.
